Kindergarten

Kindergarten at Dorsey School is so fun! Students in our kindergarten classes are privileged to have over 64 years of combined experience! WOW! Now that's a lot of experience!. Our kindergarten curriculum centers around the concept of the student learning and comprehending the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Students also are given a structured environment that introduces learning techniques and promotes positive behavior.

Mavilou Burns, a veteran teacher, has been teaching for 36 years. She has taught kindergarten at Dorsey School for 11 years. She obtained her degree from University of Mississippi.

Debra Bailey has been teaching for 16 years. All of her 16 years have been spent here at Dorsey School! Yay Debra!  Prior to teaching kindergarten, Debra taught music to elementary students and junior high math. While she misses her music and math, she is in love with her kindergarten classes!

Julie Sheffield has been teaching for 12 years. She has been at Dorsey School for 5 years. Prior to teaching at Dorsey, she taught at Mantachie. While at Mantachie, Julie taught 2nd grade and 3rd grade. Julie loves her kindergarten students.
