 Mr. Mark Hitt, Principal

Mr. Mark Hitt has 17 years in education. Prior to being a principal, Mr. Hitt taught high school in New Albany and for the Tupelo Public School District. He has been principal at Dorsey for the last 6 years. He has been married to his lovely wife, Carrie for 16 years. They have three children, Addie (14), Tanner (12) and Meredith (7).

Mr. Hitt believes that every student has the potential to succeed. While education has changed throughout the years, one thing remains certain, the need for a quality education. "The faculty and staff at Dorsey Attendance Center is the the best in the district, and I am proud to be a part of such a great team."

Working with teachers, parents, and students is a big part of being principal. "I enjoy working with the staff, parents, and students every day." While there may be times when the groups do not agree, one thing is for sure, Mr. Hitt will always have an open door and an open mind for anyone  needing his assistance.

Mr. Kevin Brown, Assistant Principal

Mr. Kevin Brown has been in education for 20 years. He has been the Assistant Principal for Dorsey Attendance Center for 5 years. He is the son of Larry and Twila Brown both former educators. In addition to teaching, Mr. Brown is also an accomplished basketball and softball coach for our school.

With all the changes taking place in education, Mr. Brown believes that teachers have a bigger responsibility than ever before, "we are asked and expected to be all things to all students." In addition, he believes that effective teachers are those who are lead to teach.

Mr. Brown compares students to a bowl of Jell-O, "their brains are full of potential and our job is to put the fruit in it before it starts to firm up."
